Chess

All SCB sport participants are welcome to come join us for the Fall CYC Chess Season.
Registration will be online at our sports sign-up page during September. Chess practices begin
in October. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sunny Kaushik, the Chess
Coordinator/Coach at harvtig@sbcglobal.net or 636-395-3345.

For those unfamiliar with CYC Chess, the season consists of weekly practices in preparation for
(4) CYC qualifying chess tournaments between December and March. The registration cost
covers each student’s fees for those four tournaments. The top ten students in each division for
each tournament qualify for the Championship Tournament at the end of March. There are four
divisions: 2 nd Grade and under, 3 rd - 4 th Grade, 5 th – 6 th Grade, and 7 th - 8 th Grade. Beginners are
welcome. Tournament attendance is recommended but not mandatory.

All children registered or residing in the parish are welcome to participate for the 2018 season.
